TikTok News Highlights

TikTok Restoration: Service was restored to users on January 19th after a 14-hour shutdown.

Executive Order: On January 20th, President Trump signed an executive order delaying enforcement of the law targeting TikTok for 75 days.

App Store Removal: Apple and Google removed TikTok and other ByteDance apps from their app stores due to potential fines exceeding $800 million if the law is enforced.

App Limitations:

• Users who haven’t downloaded TikTok cannot access the app, but can still sign up through the website.

• The TikTok app cannot receive software updates.

• TikTok Shop is only available through the app.

Impact on TikTok Shop: No new US-based users can purchase from TikTok Shop until the app is reinstated in app stores.
